Saving Your CV to Indeed

Indeed is still one of the strongest sources of jobs on the internet, but there are a couple of things you need to bear in mind about saving your CV to Indeed if you’re applying for jobs through their site.

Don’t do it. Indeed garbles it up and formats it in a really weird way, often losing nearly all the information on your CV including work experience.

Just upload a PDF or Word document of your CV each and every time, yes it’s an extra step but it pays off.

HEADINGS, TITLES & KEY INFO

If you still decide to save your CV to Indeed, it will pull headings in the following categories in the following order:

1. Summary / objective statement
2. Work experience
3. Education
4. Skills
5. Additional Information

So that means, if your Skills are your STRONGEST asset in relation to an application, or if you have additional information as to why you’re the perfect candidate, it shows at the bottom – another reason to consider not saving your CV.

It’s not very obvious on Indeed, but there is an option to apply for jobs via the advertisers site – this is your best option as you’re communicating directly with the employer/recruiter and your CV will look exactly as you’d expect. This option is at the very bottom of the job advert and not immediately obvious!

So, if you’re applying for jobs on Indeed and not hearing back from employers, it’s probably because the CV they have for you doesn’t tell them what they need to actually know.
