Gap in a CV

If you have a gap in your CV from travelling you should include this in your CV.

Recruiters are a suspicious lot and if they see an unexplained gap in a CV they will think prison, breakdowns, illness etc – all the negative stuff. Once a recruiter or employer starts having negative thoughts, they’re very hard to fight against.

The best approach is always to be simple and honest.

Good liars need good memories. Tell the truth and you’ll never get caught out.

Just say you went travelling.

It says a lot of positive things about you – independent, resourceful, determined and so on. Don’t look at this as a negative but rather embrace it as a positive time in your life.
